Slam Night 2020
LySlam is thrilled to invite you to Slam Night 2020: Days of Future Past, an event that is designed to celebrate words, soul, creative expression, and is an occasion in which our students write original work and have the courage to present slivers of their very selves.
This is the time to celebrate the ones who scrawl phrases on the back of their notebooks when inspiration strikes, the ones who:
‘promised myself that I would always put things down on paper
whether they were letters to women
who never knew I loved them
or in sticky notes to bullies
demanding their immediate surrender’ – Mike McGee
Over 9 years, LySlam has become a memorable platform to nurture one’s creativity and confidence, making it as wonderful to perform as it is to watch.
The details of the event are as follows:
Date: 13th February 2020
Timings: 6:00 to 8:00 pm, please be seated no later than 5.45 pm
Venue: The Lyceum
Entry fee: Love, passion, respect, and energy!
The event is open to all, including people from outside of the Lyceum.
Blythe Baird, in her piece ‘Pruning Into Art’ says, “Poetry is the way I choose to expose the myth of reality”. Join us in our exploration of time and reality, artfully brought to life by words and voices in the form of contemporary slam poetry.
At the end of our competition and showcase segment by members of LySlam, we will have a few limited spots for an open mic, which is open to all. However, if anyone does wish to perform in the open mic segment, please send your piece to us 48 hours beforehand. And if anyone wishes to invite friends and family from outside of The Lyceum, please fill out this form:
