The Lyceum was established in August 1987 to meet a growing
demand for quality Advanced level education. Our priority
was to select staff and faculty that shared our goals of fostering
curiosity, individual initiative, creative thinking and a
sensitivity toward social concerns.
Today
the Lyceum offers its students a comprehensive selection of
subjects in the three mainstream disciplines of the Arts,
Commerce and the Sciences.
The
Lyceum's goal is to create an environment that enables students
to realise their potential both as scholars and as members
of society. Based on the moral principles of honesty and integrity,
our philosophy incorporates the belief that education is primarily
a preparation for life.
We
treat young people as individuals who share the social space
with a larger community of people. Within this context, our
aim is to develop within them a sense of competence, social
conscience and moral courage. Additionally, from the outset
the students are challenged to work together to create an
environment that encourages mutual help and dependence.
The
School's distinctive programme stems from the belief that
scholastic excellence is paramount; it is to be experienced,
appreciated, relished and enjoyed. We encourage parents and
students to understand and embrace our mission prior to seeking
admission to The Lyceum.
